Thanksgiving traditions have become untraditional for us. It's time for family adventure. Since my oldest daughter and her husband live just minutes down the road from Lake Louisa and have to work the holiday, it was the perfect location to celebrate Thanksgiving in camping style.
Lake Louisa provides enough spacing between sites for privacy in a woodsy setting. If you are lucky to get a site by the lake, then the morning view can be enjoyed in tranquility while sipping morning coffee. Golf carts are welcomed and bicycles can be ridden down the many paths. Kayak and canoe rentals are available for additional adventure on the lake. If you're lucky, you may see an alligator, or you may just see a bunch of turtles like we did. TEven if you don't have a camper or tent, yurt and cabin rentals are available. The park is also pet friendly. Just be careful not to let them become a gator's lunch.
