For Thanksgiving, we decided to do something unique and different. My longtime best friend, Missy, and her husband, Bob, had moved to Tennessee a few years back, and I dearly missed her. She suggested for our family to come up and spend Thanksgiving with them by camping at the Greenbrier Campground in Gatlinburg, TN.
Greenbrier has an adjacent creek which my daughter loved to play in, even with the water being chilly from the colder November weather. My favorite part of this campground is the free games and entertainment provided such as cornhole, pool table, volleyball, playground, and dog park. Some campgrounds require payment for ball rental or to play pool. Everything was free! Along with the free entertainment, the bathhouse was very classy. There were several stalls in the bathhouse, and each stall was its own enclosed shower, toilet, and sink, just like a home bathroom. Definitely provided more privacy.
Greenbrier is located just a few miles away from downtown Gatlinburg. As part of our family adventure, we soared up the mountain via the sky lift to the Sky Bridge. The Sky Bridge was lit up with Christmas lights and gave an heart-pounding experience of swaying movement . During the day, a view of the ravine with the clear panes sections of the bridge would've been an added bonus. At night, the light reflections made it difficult to see the area below.
For the grand finale, we ventured up to Dubby's Legacy Mountain and rode the 7 line zip course. It was exhilarating to go ride the lines between the mountain ranges at high speeds. I wished I could have slowed it down to enjoy the view more, but I didn't want to have to do the "crawl of shame" which is when you stop too soon and have to pull yourself to the end. I recommend our guides, Crystal and Matt, to anyone who is interested in the zipline experience.
